Landbreakers second edition took place in the heart of Venice at the CREA Cantieri Del Contemporaneo in the Guidecca Art District on the island Guidecca. Presented by Pier Paolo Scelesci and curated by Valentina Gioia Levy, this exclusive edition titled FLOATING LANDSCAPES lasted four successive days as part of the Venice Biennale of Architecture. The artists spent between 3-5 hours in the gallery daily in durational performance, and were joined by stray cats, pet dogs and young children that wanted to take the artists home.
In addition to the LANDREAKERS performances, a selection of paintings by Konrad Ross were exhibited for the month of November. The paintings, realised between 2018 and 2021, explore visual signs and symbolisms from different traditions and imaginaries, manifesting the hopeless struggle of the artist to free himself from the burdensome heritage of the western cannon.
